H. HAWKLINE MILK FOR FLOWERS
Announcing his first new album in 5 years, Heavenly-singed musician and visual artist H. Hawkline shares the surreal yet honest lead single (and title-track of the LP) 'Milk For Flowers'. Powered by jumpy piano playing, the Cate Le Bon-produced tune, has a timeless feel to it, as sturdy drums keep the otherwise whimsical piece grounded. Exploring themes of love and loss through surreal similes, 'I feel like a nun picking roses' springs to mind, it's an endearingly left-field take on classic songwriting. Accompanied by and arty video, aided and abetted by some of his long-term collaborators, 'Milk For Flowers' is a characterful introduction to what's sure to be a wonderful new record. -Holly Mullineaux
